Education Programs

We are a vibrant after school synagogue program located in the beautiful Northern Berkshires.

We have three classrooms, spanning Pre-K through 7th grade. We also offer Family Education programs for all ages.

Our school draws from experiential and informal education models and provides children a place to explore what it means to be Jewish in a welcoming, supportive and creative environment.
Jane Shiyah teaches the Alef Tav class of Pre-K, 1st, and 2nd graders. This class focuses on learning blessings and Hebrew letters, hearing Torah stories and bringing them to life with drama and flair.
Alef Tav
Heather Levy teachers our Ne'arim class of 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. She integrates Torah study with creative projects like creating Pokemon cards of Biblical figures and making Illuminated manuscript drawings of Hebrew prayers.
Ne'arim
Rabbi Rachel Barenblat works with 6th and 7th grade students as they prepare to become Bnai Mitzvah. Some of the topics students learn are Practicing Hebrew Prayer, Introducing the world of Mitzvot and participating in Torah study.

Dear CBI Community Hebrew School Families:

Along with CBI Community Hebrew School's education team, I would like to welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year!
I'm very excited to be beginning a new year of Jewish growth and learning with your children and your family. As Director of Education, I'm thrilled to share some new elements to our education program that aim to nourish both children's and parents' desire to be part of a vibrant, relevant and meaningful Jewish experience. This year, we are slightly shifting our class groups to increase enrollment, we're innovating new Family Learning events and we're expanding our Hebrew instruction for the entire school. I look forward to sharing more information with you about these modifications as we approach the start of the school year.

Classes meet regularly on Mondays from 3:30 pm to 5:15 pm. There are also a number of Family Learning events scheduled at various times throughout the year. As parents, your participation in these events can't be overstated— I look to you as a vital force in your chidfren)'s emerging Jewish identity so please make every effort to bring your presence, curiosity and support to these experiences.

I welcome you to be in contact with me for any reason so please feel free to email me at rabbijgreenfield@gmail.com.
I can't wait to share this new school year with you!

L'Shalom,
Rabbi Jarah Greenfield
Director of Education
