Living a Jewish life means being part of the life of a Jewish community. Membership at CBI is an experience of lasting friendships, stimulating learning, meaningful worship, and the peace that comes with finding a spiritual home. All are welcome and included. Our services and programs draw inspiration from our surroundings and members’ interests and needs. Our liturgy is filled with poetry and music, while our education program uses art and storytelling to teach Hebrew language and Jewish traditions. Meditation minyans are held regularly and we have strong tradition of social action. Regular membership includes burial rights in our cemetery in Clarksburg and the services of our volunteer Hevra Kadisha (Burial Society).
Membership dues are set, but no one is ever turned away from CBI for financial reasons. As of July 1, 2016, family dues are $1420 per year and individual dues are $700 per year. Sponsor memberships are available for those able to give more. Seasonal memberships are available for part-time residents of the Northern Berkshires.
New CBI members contribute to the congregation’s building fund, which is used solely for building maintenance and for any expansion that may be necessary for the future growth of our congregation. This one-time assessment is $1500, payable over three years. Extensions may be granted in cases of need.
